Career & Academic

John’s interests include coaching and positive psychology, organizational psychology, emotional intelligence, personality and intelligence testing and statistical analysis. He has published a number of research studies which may be found under Publications on this page. He has lectured in psychology and research methods in a variety of universities in Australia. His PhD was based on validation studies of emotional intelligence in a corporate and academic environment.

Prior to completing his PhD in Psychology, John held a number of senior roles in the corporate environment that included people manager, team leader, program office manager and project manager. His extensive experience in organisational dynamics complements his psychological insights and teaching skills.

 B.A. (Psychology) Hons. - University of Sydney, 2002. Thesis: Performance-based emotional intelligence: Identifying measurement problems and suggested remedies using scaling theories.

Ph.D. (Psychology) - Macquarie University, Australia, 2007. Thesis: Establishing the predictive validity of Emotional Intelligence using real‑world criteria.
